Brand and Squarespace Web Design for Drea Fecht

COPYWRITER

Drea Fecht is a copywriter who helps entrepreneurs stand out online using their number one asset: their personality. Drea’s been a long-time client of mine and she came to me for website redesign and rebrand earlier this year.

Her previous website had a retro, 80s feel to it but as her business grew, Drea no longer felt aligned with that aesthetic. She wanted something bold, edgy, and with a rock'n'roll vibe to it, in the style of Joan Jett and The White Stripes.

Project Goals

As Drea’s business grew, she wanted to revisit her brand and website design and give it a more professional look and feel.

She wanted a website that:

→ Had a more serious but still edgy and bold look that accurately reflects her high vibe energy

→ Showcased her different services and was easy to use for both her and her clients

Highlighted her expertise in writing copy that allows her clients to stand out

The Process

Step 1: Brand Interview

We started off with a detailed brand interview where Drea filled me in on the vision for her website as well as the goals she has for business for the next 6 months.

Step 2: Visual Direction & Strategy

After getting clear on the project goals, I started working on the mood board that would serve as a visual direction for the design. I mapped out her customer journey and website strategy.

Step 3: Brand Design

With the mood board complete, I started working on Drea’s brand which included logo design, color palette, and typography curation. I added custom rock inspired icons that showcase her love for playing the guitar and music in general.

Step 4: Website Design

Once Drea approved the brand design, it was time to work on her website. Drea already had a website on Squarespace and wanted to continue using it so I put up a coming soon page while I worked on the redesign.

Colors & Fonts

After the initial mood board came together, it was pretty obvious that Drea’s website will have a bold red, blue, and black color palette. Red and black were chosen as a nod to the edgy rock and roll vibe while blue added an element of trust and balanced out the design.

I chose Source Sans Pro as the font for Drea’s website to keep the copy looking modern, clean, and legible.

Logo Designs

Drea Fecht Primary Logo Design

Drea’s logo uses an edgy, brushed font to give her brand a modern and unapologetic vibe that perfectly matches her high energy and enthusiasm she brings to every project.

Website Design

I brought together the color palette, finished logo designs, fonts, icons, and Drea’s photos to create a website that leads Drea’s clients through an intentional customer journey.

By building a clear path from highlighting what Drea has to offer to her story and submitting an inquiry, I ensured that only the right-fit clients would get in touch with Drea.

The finished website combines the following key elements:

  1. Core website pages: Home, About, Services, Contact,

  2. Opt-in forms throughout the website so Drea can easily grow her email list

  3. Podcast page that makes it easy for Drea to share her expertise and allows her ideal clients to get to know her better

The end result is a modern and edgy website that still feels very clean and minimal, showcases Drea’s offers, and reflects her personality to a T.
